Update 2 for Mike Pless: Feb 14, 2024 - 7:40 PM

Dr. El Deiry (surgeon 2 of 2) just came in fresh from the OR. Good report with all circumstances considered.

Dad’s radiated tissue was difficult to work with (as was expected).

Dr. El Deiry used the Latissimus dorsi (fan shaped muscle in the back) to pack and rebuild the tissues removed from earlier today.

There is a timeframe and a goal for the next few days:

Timeframe: The next three days are critical for the formation of the sutured blood vessels in dad’s neck. At around three days, those vessels should be accepted and strong enough to know if they will keep.

Goal: Docs will be encouraging dad to get out of bed and do some limited walking tomorrow morning.

Now begins the long, precarious road of the healing process. Per Dr. El Deiry, most of the tasks ahead of dad now are out of the doctors’ hands. It’s up to dad’s body to heal.

While I sincerely appreciate the doctor’s frankness, we know Who we serve.

Yes! God has seen fit to give knowledge and understanding to these men to work on and repair the human body.

But Who greater to ask for healing than our great God, our Creator and Sustainer?

We are thankful for the good update and remain hopeful. We are praying fervently as the healing process begins this very hour.

We are praying to the Creator and Sustainer who is all powerful and yet intimate. He knows our frame.

He hears our pleas and prayers. Today is evidence of this!

Thank you Father for protecting our father, our friend, our brother. We praise you!

“O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.” Is 25:1

Soli Deo gloria.
